4 Possible Research Topics

Capital Punishment - Who are we to play to the hand of God? Some people feel that it is not our job to execute those who commit serious crimes. Some believe that there are no problems with the issue.

Haitan Orphans Kidnapped - During the Haiti relief efforts, 33 suspected orphans were being rescued by American volunteers. These children were later found to not really be orphans. The workers are being faced with charges of kidnapping. Is that right or wrong?

Military Drinking Age - "If your old enough to serve your country in war, your old enough to sit down at a bar." This is a statement that I've heard over and over again throughout my 6 years in the military. I agree with it, but there are some who don't.

War in Iraq - A lot of people don't fully understand the reasoning behind the war in Iraq. Even some service members do not understand. This has been one of the most contraversial topics to date and there are supporters on both sides.

  1. i am interested in the drinking age topic.. i included it as an option for myself. the quote you provided is a great choice of logic, and i completely agree. in countries foreign to us, the drinking age is sometimes much lower, and the sale of alcohol is regulated a good deal more than it is here..

  3. Hi Erik,
I like the Military Drinking Age topic because it's fresh in your mind and also generally unexplored by non-military people.

Where do you stand on capital punishment?

  4. I definitly think people who commit serious crimes should be exicuted. If they can take the life of another person, than their life should be taken away as well. Also, i really like your Haitian Orpahans post, i honestly didnt think about that one till you mentioned it. I think that those Americans were simply looking out for the childrean. I dont know if people realize Haiti is the poorest country in the world. If those people didnt help those little childrean, they probably would of died or became very ill.

  7. I love the first topic and the third one. The first one has always been a touchy subject and it'd be interesting to see your perspective on that subject because you're in the military. And the third one, I liked mainly because it makes sense. I like how you used MILITARY for this subject.

  8. I completely agree with your military drinking age issue 100%. It could not be thought out and said any clearer. I agree if your able to serve for your country than you should be able to drink.

  10. I chose the Military Drinking Age topic. There is a lot of speculation on why this law should NOT be passed, but I wholeheartedly disagree. One state even mentions allowing military personnel to buy alchohol in bars and restruraunts, but not allowing them to buy in liquor stores. Even that would suffice, as the ones who are giving their lives for our freedom, are having restrictions put on their own.
